There used to be a song years ago called 'January' and one line that has always stuck in my head is ‘January, sick and tired you’ve been hanging on me’ and that’s how I’ve always felt about it. It’s such a dreary month, the nights are still dark and after all the pizazz of Christmas with all the brights lights and festive cheer everything seems just a bit miserable.

So I always look forward to February, to me it’s like the real start of the year, we’re finally out of first gear and we’re on our way to the Happy New Year we all want it to be!

This February in Dublin is already looking like a great time to visit.

Six Nations Rugby

On the 4th of February the Six Nations Rugby kicks off with our first two matches playing away from home but if you can’t get to the match one of the best places to watch one is in an proper Irish pub in Dublin, especially if we’re winning. Our first home match is the 25th February against France to be played at the Aviva stadium which is only a 12 minute walk from our suites in Ballsbridge so there is no hassle of trying to find a taxi or being squeezed on to a bus just to get yourself home after the match. A perfect location for any rugby fans!

Music Comedy

Other events include music concerts from a couple of blasts from the past with Midge Ure at the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire who I’m sure will be screaming about Vienna at some point and Gilbert O’Sullivan who is probably still going on about that Clair after all these years ….and yes I know I’m showing my age now!

But there are some things for the younger ones amongst us too, Drake is at the 3arena on the 19th, Lucas Graham at the Olympia on the 25th and Jack Whitehall will be doing his bit at the 3arena on the 21st.

Audi Dublin International Film Festival

Dublin International Film Festival is on 16th – 26th so plenty of films to be seen around the city in various locations - check out the programme of events on their website.

tan James Irish Gold Cup

If you fancy a flutter at the races the Stan James Irish Gold Cup is in Leopardstown Racecourse on the 12th.

Finally, of course the only date in February you really need to remember is the 14th - Valentine’s Day, when the streets will be full of red roses and chocolate wrappers and love will be in the air once more.

So many reasons to stay with us here in Ballsbridge!

Happy Valentine's Day from the team in PREMIER SUITES PLUS Dublin Ballsbridge.
